710 Oil Day: What is it?
Updated: Jul 5, 2022
420 is well known, but in recent years, cannabis concentrates, cartridges, and dabs..."oils" if you will, have taken the spotlight. If you flip "OIL" upside-down, you will see "710," so July 10th has quickly become a celebration of all the forms of oil that we so happily imbibe in. Oil Day aka Dab Day offers the chance for you to enjoy your favorite concentrates! It's crazy to see how far "getting high" has come. No longer is it just pack it in a pipe or twist one up...it's, "let's snorkel".
Our friends over at Leafly.com (where you can ORDER ONLINE in advance and pick up) have a nice breakdown about dabbing. If you're old skool like me, none of this existed growing up. These new ways to smoke were like learning a new language. Diamonds? Shatter? WTF??? So, whether you use a dab pen (see video below) or a dab rig (essentially using a bong to smoke your oil), this article is for you!
How To Use A Dab Pen
To dab, one needs some sort of tool, utensil...mechanism to deliver the concentrate vapor. We thought we'd test drive one of the latest and greatest #dabpen from one of our vendors, Rokin. The owners and I charged up this bad boy and took it for a spin. Lucky for me, I got to take it home with me for more testing. Check out my video below to see how simple it is to join in the Oil Day fun and vape life.
Dab pens are a great way to dab quickly and easily. One downside we find with dabbing is the upkeep of the pens. Concentrate oils are sticky and there is often a residue that not only can leave you with sticky fingers, but it can also clog up the dab pen in some way, shape, or form and can be difficult to clean. The Stinger comes with its own mini pipe cleaner type tool that we find works best using after each use when still warm.
Experience For Yourself
With so many types of concentrates, I think it really is personal preference on to which is "the best". Which tool is easier for you to hold? How much space do you have to store these accouterments? I encourage you to explore all these options! I used to like batter, but as I get comfortable with my dab rig at home (click here to see the one I at home), I find myself liking the saucier stuff. I also look for solventless concentrates, so I often take them in any form they come in.
Since I started working in the marijuana industry, I have heard so many people my age say they want to try dabbing or vaping but don't know-how. It's because you're simply overthinking it. If I can do it, you can do it. We've got some sweet deals this Oil Day for you to come and give it try...or should I say, dab!

Another really convenient and discreet way to enjoy oils is in the form of cartridges. After a couple of years of using your typical 510 dab pen, I upgraded myself to Rokin's adorable mini-tank. For me, having it on the lanyard makes it so much easier to NOT lose.

This is where you screw in a cartridge, aka "cart", which is filled with your concentrate, usually a live resin or full-spectrum distillate. I'm no pro on the process, so check out these guys at Hive Medicinal who have it down, if you'd like to learn more.
Dab Your Way
At the end of the day, all we're talking about is another way to get high. So, make it easy! Don't overthink your high. I do encourage smokers who can't get "high enough" to try concentrates. Various forms (flower vs. concentrates, and even sauces vs. shatter) can offer a different experience. If you feel you've reached a plateau and can't high anymore, come by and try to give dabbing or any type of concentrate a try! This month, we're offering another great promotion from one of our cartridge vendors, Sundog! Check it out below!
